   Last Tuesday, 25th March, Lorenzo Belenguer discovered his new body of works: Acrylic Box Series and New Minimalist Portraits, especially made for Spring showcase at Caiger Contemporary Art. 

  Caiger Contemporary, an online gallery based in London, chose The Gallery on the Corner for this Pop up Spring exhibition. Go, visit the exhibition and discover 14 selected artists before next Sunday 30th March.

Four minimalist portraits by Lorenzo Belenguer.

      Lorenzo is a Valencian artist with a degree in Economics. Once he has finished his career, he realized the he needed a change in his life and the he started to travel. First, he lived in Paris and the next step was coming to England (Reading), the latest step was moved to London. In London, was the place where his career as an artist took shape; he started becoming involved in mounting and participating in exhibitions in unorthodox spaces which gave him the freedom to develop his own artistic expression.

Lorenzo works with what he finds: found metal objects ending in the sculptural works, found images ending in the minimalist portraits and found the prints of Pastoral scenes paintings ending in Deconstructed Masterpieces.

El artista valenciano Lorenzo Belenguer presentó su nuevo trabajo, retratos minimalistas y alguna otra sorpresa, en la Galería Caiger Contemporary con motivo de la fiesta de la primavera.

Lorenzo nació en Valencia y después estudiar empresariales y no sentirse satisfecho con su vida, decidió dar un giro a su vida. El primer paso fue viajar por Europa para aclarar sus ideas, posteriormente vivió en Reading donde comenzó su carrera como artista plástico y fundó el grupo de artistas (The Rogues Gallery) con la intención de utilizar edificios vacíos como temporales espacios de exposición. En el año 2006 se traslada a Londres, donde actualmente reside.

  En la obra de Belenguer los objetos de uso cotidiano cobran una nueva vida. En un mundo obsesionado por el reciclaje y la regeneración, el artista valenciano juega con las ideas de la funcionalidad y lo artístico para demostrar que la reutilización es posible hasta para los objetos más cotidianos. Utiliza una pala del jardín, vallas de hierro, alambre, herramientas de metal para crear una obra que se podría considerar como ‘arte cotidiano’ o ‘arte del reciclaje’. Una vez que estas piezas son relegadas de su función principal cobran un valor estético, donde la oxidación con el uso de varios ácidos consigue refractar la luz para crear una textura rica y profunda. Como él mismo dice: el proceso de renovación revitalizara a estos objetos comunes para crear un nuevo lenguaje visual.
